Campus Activities Programming Grant 2007-2008

Background Information

In an effort to expand programming in the Lory Student Center and to increase collaboration between Campus Activities, student organizations, and CSU departments, Campus Activities has set aside funding to support programming both in the Lory Student Center and on the CSU campus. Specifically, the grant is designed to encourage both late night programming in the Lory Student Center and partnerships between CSU recognized organizations and Campus Activities.

Through a collaborative environment within the Lory Student Center, the Campus Activities office and the Student Leadership, Involvement, and Community Engagement (SLiCE) office partner to administer the Campus Activities Programming Grant through the Travel and Diversity Grant funding committee. This grant is designed to support programs that (1) promote late night programming in Lory Student Center and (2) foster collaboration between CSU recognized organizations and ASAP.

Student fee dollars, collected through the Lory Student Center fee allocation, are set aside to support programming in the Lory Student Center. This fee allocation supports underwriting of the Campus Activities Grant Fund.

Funding Guidelines & Criteria

Guidelines

  • Grants are awarded to Colorado State University student organizations (as recognized by the SLiCE office*) and to academic and administrative departments that request funds and which meet the funding criteria, as listed below.
  • Grant requests of up to $200 will be considered if a group is seeking funding for late night programming.
  • Grant requests of up to $2,000.00 will be considered if the applying organization is co-programming with ASAP. Co-programming is defined as sharing responsibility in the design, implementation, marketing, and evaluation of a program.
  • The event must be marketed to the entire CSU student body.
  • Campus Activity Grant funds cannot be used for: Awards and Trophies; College commencement ceremonies; Contest entries; Damage deposits; Departmental Honor Nights; Donations; Flowers and floral arrangements; Newsletters; Salaries; Scholarships; or Travel for students. Honorariums for CSU faculty and staff, including student staff, have funding restrictions based on state guidelines.
  • Grants are for the academic year. No awards are made for the summer.
  • All expenses covered by the Campus Activities Grant will be paid directly to the vendor. No monies will be transferred to the applicants account.
  • Applications must be submitted prior to the event taking place. Grants will not be awarded for events that have already taken place.

Criteria

  • Programs must take place during the current academic year. Exceptions will be made for August and September programs if applications are received prior to the end of the previous academic year.
  • Any funds not used for the program revert back to the Campus Activities Grant Fund.
  • Programs must be open to the public with no admission charge to fee-paying university students.
  • If charging a public admission, tickets must be sold through the Campus Box Office. All revenue beyond the cost of the program and the initial grant must be split between all co-programming entities.
  • Funds cannot be used towards a fundraiser for the group seeking funds.
  • Applicants seeking to fundraise for a non-CSU entity will not be funded.
  • Organizations/departments must acknowledge the Campus Activities Grant in all publicity materials.
  • The organization/department will submit a completed program evaluation and final budget report to the Diversity Grant Program Coordinator (Student Leadership, Involvement, & Community Engagement) for review no later than three weeks after the completion of the event.
  • Failure to do so will result in ineligibility for funding for one academic year.
  • Registered student organizations and University Offices may apply for funding once per semester.

Application Review and Funding Process

The grants committee, Campus Activities, and Student Leadership, Involvement, and Community Engagement Staff share cooperative responsibility for awarding Grants for Programming. Applications are available at the following website: http://www.sc.colostate.edu/studentorg/funding.aspx.

Funding Time Lines

Funding Sessions will be held multiple times each semester. Each Funding Session will consider grant applications for a designated grant cycle. Grant applications must be submitted to the Diversity Grant Program Coordinator in the Student Leadership, Involvement, and Community Engagement Office located on the main level of the Lory Student Center by the application deadline to be considered for the corresponding funding session. The Diversity Grant Program Committee will meet with each requesting department/organization for fifteen (15) minutes. During this time, the requesting group will have an opportunity to make a three (3) minute presentation about their grant request. The remaining time will be used for questions from the Diversity Grant Program Committee.

Please note that applications will not be considered for events that have already taken place.
