Our History

CSU has always had exuberant programming on campus. It all started in the 1960's. This was the start of CSU's programming "golden age" bringing hugely successful bands such as The Rolling Stones and the Red Hot Chili Peppers and hosting a premier Spring festival called College Days until the 1980s. At some point during the time, the Entertainment Council emerged providing CSU Cinema, Skeller Sessions, & Fine Arts programs while ASCSU had its own programming council which organized campus wide events as well, such as Homecoming. With the split in programming, there was a lack of unity accompanied by low publicity and management. With poorly planned events, more event planning groups came into the picture such as the DLP & PAC. During January 1997, the leaders of the groups worked together to form the UPC (University Programming Council) of Colorado State University. On July 27th, 1997 disaster struck with a flood which single handedly destroyed the LSC. With the Ramskeller and Theatre on hold, programming was handcuffed at CSU. In 1999, under new advising from the campus activities center, the Campus Programming Advisory Committee (CPAC) was formed. As a solution, the UPC & CPAC combined to form ASAP (Association for Student Activity Programming) which is currently just known as ASAP. Subcommittees formed such as Comedy, Technology, Traditions, Advertising/Promotions, & Special Events formed to create a more effective and more diverse range of programs for campus. Many notable programs occured with ASAP's new success such as The 311/Hoobastank concert and a lecture by Dr. Drew Pinsky. Currently ASAP still holds 5 similar committees and hosts a variety of campus wide activities. Get involved to know more!
